FSSAI Registration
Food businesses often need an FSSAI registration or licence to operate and to show customers. We help you pick the right type, check the papers and follow the file until the number is in your hands.
What is FSSAI?
FSSAI is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. Any business that makes, stores, distributes or sells food generally needs a registration or a licence under food-safety law.
Who needs it?
- Restaurants, bakeries, catering and cloud kitchens
- Home food and tiffin units that sell to customers
- Grocery and packed-food shops
- Manufacturers, storers and transporters of food
Registration or licence?
Small operators take a basic registration. Larger operators take a state or central licence. The type depends on turnover, whether you work in more than one state, and a few specified activities such as import or export of food. We map this before the form goes in.
The 14-digit number
Once approved you get a 14-digit FSSAI number. Print it on packs and display it at the premises where the rules ask for it. Validity is usually chosen for 1 to 5 years and must be renewed in time.
